What is the HP Latex 630 (171S2A)?

The HP Latex 630 is the base model of HP’s 64-inch 630 family: a roll-to-roll printer that uses water-based HP Latex Inks in eight 1 L cartridges and five printheads. It prints in color only (no white ink), includes a take-up reel, an automatic horizontal cutter, HP PrintOS tools and HP SAi Flexi RIP Basic, and runs on 200 to 240 V power. HP Latex 630: overview

HP rates the 630 at up to 35 m²/hr in 2-pass mode, 18 m²/hr in 4-pass, 14 m²/hr (about 150 ft²/hr) in standard 6-pass, 11 m²/hr in 8-pass quality mode and 8 m²/hr in 12-pass high-saturation mode, with 7 m²/hr for backlits and textiles (14-pass). Output goes up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, and rolls from 457 mm up to 1,625 mm (64 in) wide load through a front-loading system. HP also lists job storage in the printer of up to 10 GB for reprints.

The printer’s built-in automatic horizontal cutter trims the printed roll; HP notes it is for thinner banners and canvas only and recommends a test first. Fabrics, mesh, textiles and other porous materials need a liner on this printer, per HP.

How the HP Latex 630 differs from the other 630 models and the 730

Against the HP Latex 630 W, the 630 has eight cartridges and five printheads instead of nine and six, and HP lists no white modes. Against the HP Latex 630 Print and Cut Plus Solution it leaves out the HP Latex 64 Plus Cutter, cutter stand and HP Cutter Control software. Against the HP Latex 730, HP does not list an embedded spectrophotometer for the 630, and the 630 uses 1 L cartridges only; HP lists the 630 at 230 kg (about 507 lb) against 575 lb for the 730, so the 630 is the lighter frame.
