Epson SureColor P700 13-Inch Photo Printer: overview
The Epson SureColor P700 is a 13-inch desktop photo printer for photographers, artists and designers who want gallery-quality prints up to 13 x 19 inches from a compact machine. It uses a 10-channel MicroPiezo AMC printhead (180 nozzles per channel) and prints at up to 5760 x 1440 dpi with droplets as small as 1.5 picoliters. The UltraChrome PRO10 ink set is Cyan, Light Cyan, Vivid Magenta, Vivid Light Magenta, Yellow, Gray, Light Gray, Violet, Photo Black and Matte Black, with dedicated nozzles for both blacks.
The top-loading feeder takes sheets up to 13 x 19 inches, a front single-sheet path accepts media up to 1.5 mm thick, and a built-in roll paper unit at the back takes rolls 8.27 to 13 inches wide on a 2-inch core. Epson notes roll handling is standard on the P700 and optional on the P900, so no adapter is needed. There is no automatic cutter: after a roll print, Cut/Eject prints a cut line and feeds the paper so you can trim the print with scissors. Carbon Black Driver mode increases black density on glossy papers. A 4.3-inch touchscreen, interior LED light, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 are standard. Epson lists 1 min 29 sec for an 8.5 x 11 inch print and 2 min 23 sec for 13 x 19 inches (print engine only), and says it is up to 30 percent smaller than the previous generation.

Who buys the SureColor P700 and what they print
Who buys it, from DTG’s sales and support work in Tampa: Epson SureColor P-series printers like the P700 are bought by art publishers, fine art reproduction shops, giclee printers and artists; photographers (commercial, portrait, landscape and fine art); photo fulfillment shops and galleries; and commercial offset printers, ad agencies and corporate in-plant graphics departments that use them for color proofing.
What they print on: photo papers (luster, gloss, semigloss, semi-matte, fiber and baryta), artist canvas (gloss, matte and satin) and fine art papers (smooth and textured). Browse fine art and giclee media and photo media, or ask DTG which papers fit the P700.
P700 vs P900: 13 or 17 inches?
The P700 and the SureColor P900 use the same UltraChrome PRO10 ink set, printhead, resolution and Epson speed ratings. Choose the P700 if your largest print is 13 x 19 inches and you want roll printing out of the box: its roll paper unit is built in. Step up to the P900 for prints up to 17 x 22 inches and larger 50 mL cartridges; the P900 takes rolls up to 17 inches only with the optional Epson roll media adapter (C12C935221). For regular 17-inch roll work, the SureColor P5370 adds a built-in roll feeder with auto cutter and 200 mL cartridges. Talk to a print specialist at 656.232.1877 if you are deciding between them.
Is the SureColor P700 the right size? DTG’s advice
“Which size should I buy?” is the question DTG hears most before a sale. For most print businesses our answer is 44 inches wide: it is the sweet spot. The most common mistake we see is buying too narrow. Almost every customer who buys a 24-inch printer and succeeds with it ends up upgrading to 44 inches, so if you expect your print work to grow, size up now.
The P700 prints up to 13 inches wide. If you plan to sell prints larger than that, compare the 44-inch SureColor P9570, P9370 and P8570D.
Before you buy, DTG walks you through cost per print and cost per square foot for the work you plan to do. Call a print specialist at 656.232.1877.

SureColor P700 FAQ
What is the largest print the Epson SureColor P700 can make?
Cut sheets up to 13 x 19 inches, borderless. On roll paper Epson lists a maximum printable area of 13 x 129 inches.
Does the P700 print on roll paper?
Yes. Roll printing is standard on the P700, with a built-in roll paper unit and no adapter to buy (the optional Epson roll media adapter is only for the P900). It takes rolls 8.27 to 13 inches wide on a 2-inch core, up to 3.31 inches (84 mm) in outer diameter and 0.003 to 0.027 inch thick.
Does the P700 have an automatic roll cutter?
No. When a roll print finishes, select Cut/Eject on the touchscreen: the printer prints a cut line and feeds the paper forward, you cut along the line with scissors, then select Done and the roll feeds back.
What ink does the SureColor P700 use?
Ten UltraChrome PRO10 pigment inks in 25 mL T770 cartridges, including Violet, Gray and Light Gray. Photo Black and Matte Black have dedicated nozzles, so there is no switching.
Should I buy the P700 or the P900?
Both share the same ink set and print quality. The P700 tops out at 13 x 19 inches with 25 mL cartridges and has roll printing built in; the P900 prints up to 17 x 22 inches with 50 mL cartridges and needs the optional roll media adapter for rolls.
Can the P700 print thick fine art paper?
Yes. The front single-sheet path is designed for thicker media up to 1.5 mm, including Epson Signature Worthy, Legacy and third-party fine art papers.
Where can I buy an Epson P700 in Tampa, FL?
Call DTG (Digital Technology Group) in Tampa at 656.232.1877 to talk to a print specialist or get a quote.
Is the 13-inch P700 the right size, or should I buy a 44-inch printer?
The P700 prints up to 13 inches wide. For most print businesses DTG recommends 44 inches, the sweet spot, and almost every customer who buys a 24-inch printer and succeeds with it ends up upgrading to 44 inches. Call 656.232.1877 and DTG will work through cost per print and cost per square foot for your work.
Is the 10-color ink set on the P700 right for my work?
It depends on what you print. The P700 uses 10-color Epson UltraChrome PRO10 pigment ink. Epson’s current P-series ink sets are 6-color PRO6 (P6570 and P8570 families), 10-color PRO10 (P700, P900, P5370, P7370 and P9370) and 12-color PRO12 (P7570, P9570 and P20570). Tell a DTG print specialist what you print and we will recommend the right ink set.
What papers and canvas do DTG customers print on with the P700?
P-series customers at DTG print on photo papers (luster, gloss, semigloss, semi-matte, fiber and baryta), artist canvas (gloss, matte and satin) and fine art papers (smooth and textured). Ask DTG which papers and sizes fit the P700.
What does DTG provide after I buy a P700?
Installation and training are available for every printer DTG sells, for a fee. Tech support on DTG’s toll-free line is free, and DTG builds free custom ICC profiles for customers who buy a P-series printer from DTG. You also get DTG’s color management expertise and more than 30 years of digital printing experience.
Does DTG make custom ICC profiles for the Epson SureColor P700?
Yes. DTG builds free custom ICC profiles for customers who buy the P700 from DTG, matched to your papers and workflow. Call DTG in Tampa at 656.232.1877 for details.
How many prints will I get from the starter ink that comes with my printer?
It depends on what you print, since some colors run out faster than others. Light Black (gray) usually goes first, because it’s used across the whole tonal range, even in color prints. The wide-gamut colors last longer, depending on your files. From our installs here at DTG, plan on about 10 to 15 24×36″ prints before you need a new Light Black cartridge. If you print every day or every other day, buy a full ink set with your printer or soon after.
How much maintenance does a SureColor P- or T-series printer need?
Very little. You’ll change ink, load paper and replace the maintenance tank. We recommend cleaning around the capping station and printhead area about every 6 months. Do it a little more or less often depending on how much you print.
Why is my print a slightly different size than my file?
Print length can vary a little depending on your media and settings. Our video with Mirage on print length correction shows why it happens and how to fix it.
