Many customers ask us which Epson 24″ wide P Series printer should I buy, the P6570 or the P7570. Well it comes down to what you print and who your customers that buy your prints are. The P7570, due to its UltraChrome PRO12 inkset is the widest color gamut 24″ printer on the market. If you are printing high end, high dynamic range photography its a must. Also, if you are printing giclees or fine art reproductions, the color gamut of the P7570 allows you to match a much broader range of colors in your artwork. The SureColor P6570 (E, D, or DE) does print extremely high quality, continuous tone photographic prints with good gradations. So it is a great solution for portrait (people) photography prints, or for consumer grade photographic prints on Luster photo paper especially. It is also an ideal solution for smaller, 24″ wide P.O.P. signage and graphics.
There are three different variations of the 24″ wide Epson P6570: The P6570DE (this item), the P6570E, and the P6570D. The below graphic illustrates the difference – which basically comes down to single roll (P6570E) vs Dual Roll (Both P6570D/P6570DE) and Hardware Postscript Controller (P6570D) vs not having Postscript controller (Both P6570E/P6570DE).
So what does the embedded PostScript controller do for the Epson P6570D model? It enables you to print more complex graphics like images with transparency blending, postcript fills, and EPS images (think Adobe InDesign files and some Illustrator files). It also allows you to print directly from a phone, table, or USB device without print drivers. It is a genuine Adobe engine which processes these complex graphics at the fastest speeds and the highest accuracy.
The dual roll functionality of the P6570D and P6570DE models not only allow you to load multiple rolls of the same or different type of paper but can also function as a take up reel to wind up prints. The printer will automatically load the roll paper for you and even auto switch to the opposite roll when you choose it from the print driver or from a RIP like Mirage.

The Epson P6570 printers all use the same inkset which is called UltraChrome PRO6. This inkset, consisting of Photo Black, Matte Black, Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, & Gray (light black) produces a surprisingly good size color gamut as well as very smooth gradations and tones. While we wouldn’t call this a fine art giclee printer, the SureColor P6570 is an excellent choice for portrait photo prints and everyday graphics.
Epson gives you three different size/cost options when replacing ink cartridges in your P6570, small, medium, and large. The capacities are 110ml, 350ml, or 700ml and you can even mix and match different sizes if you tend to use a lot of a certain color. The larger the capacity, the lower the cost per ml of ink. That said, it doesn’t always make sense to choose the largest capacity as there are some negative consequences should the ink stay in the printer too long. Please consult with your DTG sales rep regarding the potential issues with old ink. You can shop for Epson SureColor P6570 UltraChrome PRO6 Inks Here.

The Epson SureColor P6570’s large print head and robust chassis allows it to print extremely fast at all print quality modes. In the chart below, we illustrate how many square feet per hour it can produce compared to the Epson SureColor P6000, the printer the P6570 replaces. Combine the print engine speed with auto roll loading and switching, and the Epson P6570DE is an absolute production beast.

There are three different ways to connect your computer(s) to the Epson P6570 printer. Choose from gigabit ethernet, HighSpeed USB 3.0, or over WiFi. At DTG we highly recommend a physical wired connection over choosing wireless. If there are any issues with bandwidth (which can happen frequently from congestion) then that can cause the printhead to pause, slowing the printer down and even causing print quality issues. That said, with the optional 960GB SSD, you would not experience head pausing as the job would be spooled to the controller first.
Proof before you print: a calibrated monitor helps your screen predict the print. See Choosing an Eizo ColorEdge for Photo and Fine-Art Print Proofing, Eizo ColorEdge CG vs CS, and Color-Accurate Monitors for Fine Art Reproduction, or browse Eizo monitors.
