Epson SureColor T3770DR 24-Inch Dual-Roll CAD/Technical Printer: overview

The Epson SureColor T3770DR is the top model of the 24-inch T3770 family and the only one that includes the Adobe Embedded Print Engine. That engine, which Epson says uses onboard Intel Atom processors, processes PDF and PostScript 3 files in the printer, so complex drawings with transparency layers can be sent without a separate RIP. It also loads two rolls at once, so a bond roll and a coated or photo roll can stay ready.

Six-color UltraChrome XD3 ink adds Red to Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Matte Black and Photo Black, helping with brand reds on posters and POP graphics as well as line detail on CAD output. Epson lists A1/D-size plain-paper prints in 16 seconds, a 4.3-inch touchscreen, USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi, and over 28 IT and security features for office networks. The printer ships with 240 mL cartridges, needs no assembly, and can be up and printing in as little as 30 minutes. It weighs 261 lb and measures 54 x 20 x 39 inches.

Who buys the SureColor T3770DR and what they print

Who buys it, from DTG’s sales and support work in Tampa: Epson SureColor T-series printers like the T3770DR are bought by architecture and engineering firms, franchise print-and-ship stores and quick printers, print-for-pay shops, schools and education departments, and grocery stores.

What they print on: poster paper, matte paper and bond paper. See technical and engineering media; ink, media and support available from DTG.

T3770E vs T3770DE vs T3770DR: which one?

The T3770 family has three models on one 24-inch engine. The T3770E is single-roll with no Adobe Embedded Print Engine. The T3770DE is dual-roll, also without the engine. The T3770DR is dual-roll and the only one with the Adobe Embedded Print Engine (PDF and PostScript 3). In practice: pick the E for one roll at a time, the DE if you keep two media types loaded, and the DR if you send PDF files directly to the printer and want the embedded engine to process them. Moving up in width, see the T5770DR (36 inch) and T7770D (44 inch); for a lower-cost 24-inch model see the T3475 or T3170.
