DTG's take on the product Epson Hot Press Natural Fine Art Paper, 44" x 50' Roll (S042325)

Response:

Check out the short video below to see the color gamut, white point, and dMax of Epson Hot Press Natural Paper. Epson's Hot Press Natural is a fairly heavyweight, fine art paper with a relatively smooth, matte surface. It is acid free and ph buffered making it a great choice for museum-grade fine art prints. Generally speaking, "Hot Press" fine art papers are smooth surfaced and "Cold Press" papers are textured surfaced. There is also a "bright" version of Hot Press with the difference being that the bright version has optical brighteners (aka OBA's) where this natural version is OBA free. While I would call the surface smooth, its not as smooth as say Epson's Enhanced Matte paper and has a very mild, almost velvety surface. Because of its relatively smooth surface, this is a great fine art inkjet paper for photographs and artwork with a lot of detail. In other words, the paper's surface will not degrade or compete with your image's detail. This is a great option if you are delivering your prints unframed, and the customer is holding the print in their hands. Due to its weight and premium hand, your files on Hot Press Natural will be immediately recognized as extremely high-end prints. This matte, fine art paper works with all water based (aqueous) inkjet printers from Epson, HP, and Canon, as well as latex and resin printers. Wilhelm Imaging Research, one of the premier labs for archival testing of prints, has the print permanence rating for Epson's Ultrachrome HDX ink set (Epson SureColor P7000/P9000) on Hot Press Natural paper at the following figures below:
