Wasatch SoftRIP is RIP software for large-format and specialty printing. Wasatch sells it as a subscription that includes the current software, updates and Wasatch tech support for as long as the subscription is active. DTG sells Wasatch SoftRIP and its add-on options as 1-year (annual) subscriptions at Wasatch list price, delivered as digital licenses, and can help you choose the right setup.
Wasatch SoftRIP subscriptions
DTG sells Wasatch as subscriptions only, with no owned (perpetual) versions. The Wasatch SoftRIP 1-Year Subscription ($795 per year) is the base license. Out of the box, SoftRIP drives up to two printers. To drive a third printer or more, add an Additional Print Unit for each additional printer; Wasatch says a subscription can scale up to a total of eight print units. Add-on options and Premium Drivers are 1-year subscriptions added to an active SoftRIP subscription.
Add-on options
- Additional Print Unit – drives one more printer beyond the two SoftRIP supports out of the box. Add one for each additional printer.
- Automation Option – connects SoftRIP to your business systems through the Wasatch API, for uses such as smart nesting and load balancing from hot folders, email status reporting and barcode pull of prints on demand.
- Cutting Option – generates contour cut paths from artwork and includes the Wasatch Tracer. Wasatch requires it for all supported cutting devices.
- Fotoba Option – creates and prints Fotoba cut marks, from hot folders or from the Layout tab.
- Screen Printing Option – separations for screen printers, with Wasatch Precision Rosette Screens.
- Textile Option – Wasatch’s option built for the needs of textile printers.
- Variable Data Printing (VDP) Option – customized print runs such as labels, jerseys, promotional items and envelopes.
General File Out (GFO) options
- General File Out 96 – raises the maximum width of the General File Out driver from 24 to 96 inches.
- GFO 2 Bit TIFF – adds 2-bit TIFF output to the General File Out driver.
- GFO High Resolution – raises the General File Out driver’s maximum resolution from 1440 dpi to 20000 dpi.
Premium Drivers: which tier do you need?
Some printers need a Premium Drivers option on top of the base subscription. Wasatch’s supported printers list shows which tier each printer needs. Each tier includes the drivers from the lower tiers, so you only buy the highest tier you need: Premium Drivers 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.
