The imagePROGRAF GP-300 is the bigger brother to the smaller, 24-inch Canon GP-200 printer. The Canon GP-300 can produce prints up to 36 inches wide on roll or sheet media. Both of these Canon imagePROGRAF GP series printers feature a 5-color inkset consisting of a the standard primary colors but also include a fluorescent pink ink as well. These printers are ideal for printing bright, saturated prints and posters on banner material, photo paper, bond paper, and others.

Canon printers differ from Epson printers in that they have end-user replaceable printheads. Epson utilizes piezo inkjet printheads and Canon uses thermal printheads. Epson’s heads are considered part of the hardware and are meant to last for years of printing. Canon’s thermal printheads are considered a consumable and need to be replaced periodically (depends on how many prints you generate). So, when the printhead finally fails, you can purchase a new Canon printhead and replace it yourself in a matter of minutes. If an Epson printhead fails, it is a service call to have a professional technician replace the head. If the printer is in warranty, then all costs are covered, if not, then you’re out of pocket for the Epson printhead and service.

The printer comes with a full set of starter, 90ml ink cartridges to get it up and running and producing several prints. Canon GP-300 ink cartridges come in three different size options that you can choose from depending on your production needs (number and size of prints you make per week). Choose from the standard 130ml size if you’re only doing a few prints per week. If you’re doing lots of printing (several a day) choose the larger 300ml cartridges. The larger the cartridge, the lower the cost per ml and you can mix and match sizes if you typically use certain colors more than others.
