The SureColor S9170 64-inch Solvent Printer features a whole new design compared to its previous generation Epson S80600 printers. Along with the compact design, the S9170 now comes with a standard drying fan to help dry the ink when you’re printing in the faster print modes. There’s also a new, large touchscreen to control and access the printer’s menu system for loading media, performing maintenance and more. As with the S80 previous generation, white ink is an option with the S9170. White will operate more reliably with the new white ink circulation system which is all handled automatically.
As mentioned above the Epson S9170 Eco-Solvent printer is compatible with two different size ink packs, 800ml or 1.5L (1500ml). You can even mix and match sizes so if you use more or less of a certain color you can choose the appropriate size ink capacity for each color.

As with the previous generation Epson SureColor Eco-Solvent printers, the S9170 allows you to periodically replace maintenance parts. This practice greatly increases the longevity, reliability, and print quality of the SureColor S9170 printer. The printer will automatically prompt you (usually every 3-9 months depending on your usage) to replace these items and easily walks you through the process which takes no more than 5 minutes. The Epson S9170 has a new media lifter making it easier to load heavy, 64-inch banner, vinyl, canvas and more types of media into the printer. It also has a new media cleaner on the paper feed as it’s going into the printer. This minimizes dust and debris that would otherwise end up in the print zone which may cause nozzle clogs in the printhead. A nice touch is a new rear media loading lever that you can access from the back while you’re physically loading the media.
A new larger printhead allows the S9170 to print faster and offer more colors (green) compared to the Epson S80600 and S80600L printers. The built-in Nozzle Verification Technology (NVT) monitors nozzle health for issues and will auto clean without wasting media. Epson has shifted the ink temperature sensor closer to the nozzle plate leading to even greater print quality and consistency.
The new printhead in the S9170 is engineered and built to last the lifetime of the printer. However, if there is any damage to the printhead or you are a very heavy user of the printer over the years, Epson has an answer. The SureColor S9170 is the first solvent printer to offer user replaceable print heads. There are no special tools required and the end user can replace a printhead with 1 hour. After physically replacing, the printer will automatically align and adjust the new printhead for quality.
The SureColor S9170 uses Epson UltraChrome GS3 Inks which is an 11 color inkset (including the optional white). Epson describes an expanded color gamut with Red, Orange and an all-new Green ink. And as mentioned above, white ink is still an option (or you can just use a cleaning cartridge in that slot if you don’t need white). Metallic silver is no longer an option with this Epson eco solvent printer. This solvent inkset from Epson has Green Guard Gold Certification and offers same day lamination for fast turnaround times.
The Epson S9170 is fast and high quality. It gives you the option of printing in several different print modes: whether you’re printing outdoor banners, car wraps, backlit film, or high quality artwork on fine art papers or canvas, you can use the S9170 to get the job done. It will print up to 1129 square feet per hour!

The Epson S9170 includes not 1, but 2 RIP options in the box! Choose from the Epson Edge Print Pro RIP or a 1-year subscription to Onyx Go Plus. Both RIPs work great with Epson printers and offer all the features you need to print great signage, artwork, and photos. You will also have access to Epson Cloud Solution PORT which allows you to remotely view dashboards on production rates, printer utilization, cost reporting and more.

The 64″ wide Epson S9170 solvent printer comes included with a 1 year, on-site warranty and additional years of warranty can be purchased to extend the warranty for up to a total of 5 years. If you are considering a warranty, it is most cost effective to purchase the extended warranty at the same time that you purchase the printer as Epson offers those plans at a significantly lower price. What is the difference between the S7170, S8170 and S9170?
All three are 64-inch Epson UltraChrome GS3 solvent printers. The S7170 is 4-color. The S8170 adds Light Cyan and Light Magenta. The S9170 adds Red, Orange, Green and Light Black for a wider color gamut, plus White or Clear.
What media sizes does the S9170 take?

What RIP software is included?

What do I need for installation?

What warranty comes with the S9170?
