New Epson SureColor F3070 Max Provides Low TCO and High-Production Reliability Allowing Print Shops to Produce Hundreds of Custom Shirts Per Day
The Epson SureColor F3070 Max Direct to Garment Printer is one of three DTG printers that Epson has currently available which also includes the Epson F2270 and the Epson F1070 printers. The F3070 DTG printer produces the same great prints, but has a much more industrial design, much higher production capability, and lower total cost of ownership when compared to the SureColor F2270 & F1070 DTG printers. The Epson F3070 competes with direct to garment printers costing tens of thousands of dollars more and is dramatically easier to operate and maintain when compared to the competition.
As you can see from the product images, the Epson F3070 printer has a unique design relative to its little brother DTG printers. It comes with a stand and bulk ink solution integrated into the printer. A large touchscreen panel allows you to easily access all of the printer’s functionality. There’s easy access all over the printer area which makes performing manual maintenance easy and convenient.
The F3070 printer utilizes TWO industrial, high-performance PrecisionCore printheads that feature variable droplet size at up to 1200×1200 dpi. These heads have nozzle verification technology (NVT) which automatically detects nozzle health and can correct and compensate without user interruption. The printhead design in the printer features built-in redundancy allowing production to continue should any issues occur. Finally, the Epson F3070 printer allows the user to replace a print head should that be necessary.
Epson has a feature called Garment Thickness Optimization with the SureColor F3070. This system has 6 sensors which measure the thickness of the shirt or garment to create a garment height profile. Then the printhead carriage will physically move up and down to the optimal height as desired by the media settings.
The Epson SureColor F3070 printer uses Epson’s UltraChrome DG Ink technology. Consisting of CMYK plus white, this ink yields wide gamut and bright colors while offering extreme durability at the same time. These inks conform to Oeko-Tex ECO PASSPORT standards and are compliant to ECOCERT Global Organic Textile Standards (when applied to fabric and fixed appropriately). They are safe for adults, children, and babies. Epson F3070 Inks come in 1500ml individual packs and can be purchased here.
Epson’s handling of white ink really sets them apart from their competition making their products more reliable, more consistent, and with less maintenance. They filter and circulate the white ink for reduced nozzle clogging and it’s all handled automatically by the F3070 printer. The Epson SureColor F3070 also includes 3 active air filters to help remove dust and fibers from the print environment and from contacting the printhead. Static charged zones around each printhead minimizes airborne dust from causing blocked print nozzles.
As mentioned before, the SureColor F3070 is meant for high production of t-shirts and garments. It is the faster of the direct to garment printers offered by Epson and is fastest in its class. In the “sweet spot” print mode, quality, the F3070 can produce a full size 14×16 print in 45 seconds on a white garment and 1:04 seconds on a dark garment (using white ink). The included Garment Creator 2 Software is an easy to use but powerful DTG imaging software to control and print to your SureColor F3070 DTG printer. Both Windows and Mac compatible, it will print PNG, TIFF, JPEG and BMP files. Use the built-in garment layout tool to arrange graphics, add customization, rotate and more.
The Epson SureColor F3070 DTG printer comes included with a 90-Day, whole unit exchange warranty (or on-site at Epson’s discretion) and additional years of warranty can be purchased to extend the warranty for up to a total of 5 years. If you are considering a warranty, it is most cost effective to purchase the extended warranty at the same time that you purchase the printer as Epson offers those plans at a significantly lower price. If you are new to direct to garment printing, you will also want to consider a pretreatment machine if you are going to be printing to dark garments (using the white ink of the F3070 printer). When printing white ink, the fabric that you are printing to requires a pretreat liquid for the white ink to adhere properly. This can be hand applies with a roller however if you are doing any a decent amount of production you will want a machine to do the work for you. We sell a couple of different options and recommend the Ecofreen Mister T series of pretreaters. These machines are affordable, fast, consistent, and very reliable.
