The Epson SureColor F6470H 44″ Dye Sublimation Printer is one of two Dye Sub 44-inch printers that Epson has currently available which also includes the Epson F6470 Printer. Both of these Epson dye sub printers use the same printing platform with the F6470 using a standard CMYK inkset and the F6470H adding 2 more colors for a total of a 6-color inkset. The F6470’s four colors and high density black generate great images with incredible contrast but if you need expanded gamut or smoother gradations you may want to consider this F6470H.

The SureColor F6470H has a new design compared to its predecessors, the F6200 and F6370. The biggest differences include the integrated bulk ink pack system – no more messy or time-consuming refilling of the inks. Just quickly replace the ink pack and go. The F6470H also includes an auto media take-up reel to wind up the prints as they come out of the printer. It also adds a user maintenance panel section for easy access to clean the station and replace the head wiper system.

As we mentioned before the Epson F6470H is a 6-color printer with the standard CMYK inks along with your choice of the 2 other colors. Choose from: Light Cyan & Light Magenta or Orange and Violet or Fluorescent Pink and Fluorescent Yellow. If you’re printing on Chromaluxe, we’d recommend the light cyan/light magenta config for smooth gradations and highlights. For the widest color gamut we’d recommend the orange and violet. And for bright specialty colors we’d recommend the fluorescent inks.

The Epson SureColor F6470H printer uses Epson’s UltraChrome DS Ink technology. Consisting of CMYK (plus the others for the H option) and utilizing a high density black, these inks offer a wide color range and deep blacks for excellent dynamic range and contrast. These inks conform to Oeko-Tex ECO PASSPORT standards (when applied to fabric and fixed appropriately). They are safe for adults, children, and babies. Epson F6470H Inks come in 1.6L (1600ml) individual packs, are sold as twin packs per color and can be purchased here. These large 1600ml packs mean less time changing out inks as well as less plastic and waste for the environment when compared to ink cartridges.

The F6470H utilizes the latest printhead technology from Epson which is an industrial design featuring 1200dpi, variable droplet size resolution. It reduces nozzle clogs with its built-in nozzle verification technology (NVT) by constantly monitoring nozzle health and adjusts to compensate with other nozzles. This reduces user intervention when it comes to head cleanings. That said, the SureColor F6470H allows the end user to manually access the capping and wiper station for cleaning those areas. The Epson F6470 only requires around 5 minutes of manual maintenance per month.

Epson DS Transfer Multi Purpose is a heavier weight paper which can take heavier ink loads for all around applications on hard and soft blanks. Epson DS Transfer Photo Paper is optimized for hard substrates and delivers very high resolution and detail, especially on Chromaluxe aluminum panels. Epson DS Transfer Adhesive Textile paper is ideal for piece/sheet transfer applications for high end and accurate, sharp transfers to fabric and textiles. Finally, Epson DS Transfer Production Paper is a lighter weight workhorse paper for roll to roll, large-volume production applications.
