HP Designjet Z2100 24" Printer (Q6675A) DTG received a pre-release HP z2100 44 inch printer in mid September and we have been testing on a variety of papers in different print modes. From first uses, we can observe that these Z2100 printers produce the best prints we’ve seen from any HP printer that we’ve ever used. These are the first printers from HP that we feel comfortable selling into the photo and fine-art market. In the following paragraphs we will describe our experience with the HP Z2100 from setting it up and installing, printing, using the built-in profiler, and other day to day operations. >> Read the complete review

Color Byte Software's Image Print 6.1 - Version 7 is currently available
Colorbyte Software’s ImagePrint version 6.1 RIP software has been the most eagerly anticipated piece of software geared towards Epson print making ever. Not only due to it’s new and strong features, but more because Colorbyte missed their release date by several months. Version 6 for the Macintosh has been shipping for almost 8 months and the PC version just began shipping late 2004. DTG works very closely with Colorbyte and we have been using various beta versions of 6 for quite a while. Users who purchased ImagePrint after November 7th 2003 qualify for the upgrade automatically. If you do not own ImagePrint already we strongly recommend this review if you are considering Epson RIP software. >> READ MORE
Flextight scanners
Hasselblad’s Imacon Flextight scanners are simply the highest quality scanners on the planet, outperforming even PMT based drum scanners costing several times more. The Flextight 343, 646, 848, and 949 scanners are all based on a virtual drum concept that uses magnetic holders to grip the film without the use of glass. This glassless method eliminates the need for tape and oil and also eliminates distortion in the optical path. This method combined with the highest quality optics make Imacon Flextight scanners the sharpest film scanners in the industry. >>READ MORE

X-Rite has begun shipping the new Pulse Color Elite System, an affordable, complete software and hardware solution for creating ICC profiles. One of the most unique features of this system is its ability to operate in an un-tethered mode for capturing target data remotely. X-Rite sells the Pulse system in 8 different versions which can make it a little confusing when choosing which to purchase. The three key questions you would ask yourself before choosing which Pulse Color Elite System is right for you are, 1) do I need to create CMYK profiles for my printers, 2) do I already own some sort of monitor calibrator that I am happy with, and 3) do I need a UV filter on the Pulse spectrophotometer?
