ICC Profiles for Harman Fibre Baryta Papers

DTG has created and posted ICC Profiles for Harman's new Baryta Fiber papers on www.DTGweb.com. Profiles have been added for Harman's matte, matt warm tone, and gloss fiber baryta papers. The papers have been profiled on the Epson 7800, epson 9800, Canon ipf9000, canon 8000, canon ipf 6100 printers. Look for more ICC profiles for the Epson 3800, 4800 and the new Epson x880 printers in the coming weeks.

Harman's fiber papers are very similar to the fineline brand of fiber papers as both are made in Europe and are extremely high quality archival photo papers. The Harman fiber papers use the traditional baryta layer in the manufacturering process.

DTG's profiles are created with X-Rite's eye-one iSis pro spectrophotometer and Monaco Profiler Platinum profile building software. All profiles are 16 bit and extremely high quality.

Epson 3800 ICC Profiles

DTG received Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printers weeks ago and has begun creating ICC profiles for this printer. DTG's ICC profiles are extremely high quality and very accurate, version 4 profiles. We create these profiles with the X-Rite DTP70 spectrophotometer and Monaco Profiler Platinum software.

Since the Epson 3800 printer automatically switches between photo black and matte black, the profiles are very specific per paper type. We have completed ICC profiles for papers from Epson, Kodak, Ilford, Moab, Fredrix, Hahnemuhle, and others. Paper types include Photo Glossy, Pearl, Luster, Photo Rag, and many more. Look for more Epson 3800 custom ICC profiles soon. DTG's profiles can be accessed via www.dtgweb.com and then clicking on the ICC Profile Library link. DTG provides custom ICC profiles for a variety of printers, free of charge to our customers.

HP Designjet Z2100 Photo Printers Shipping

DTG has begun shipping the new HP Designjet Z2100 24" and 44" wide format photo printers. Customer feedback from these printers has been excellent. We have also done a review of our initial tests on the HP Z2100 printer which can be viewed at www.dtgweb.com/reviews. These printers are 8-color, 2400x1200 dpi printers which produce prints on photo, outdoor, and fine art papers with incredible quality. They feature photo and matte black inks installed in the printer at the same time so no switching is necessary. The HP Z2100 also has a spectrophotometer built into the print mechanism so users can create their own ICC printer profiles on any media they wish.

New Canon iPF9000 printer - 60" WIDE FORMAT!!!

DTG recently exhibited the new Canon iPF9000 printer at Decor Expo in Atlanta. To our knowledge, DTG is the first dealer in the country to receive and demonstrate this 60 inch, wide format printer. We are now testing the Canon 9000 printer in our demo facility.

The Canon ipf9000
is a 12 color, 60 inch wide, inkjet printer. It uses aqueous based pigmented inks that are indoor archival and outdoor stable. So, this printer performs equally well in the signage, photo, giclee, and graphics markets.

Our initial impressions of the Canon ipf 9000 are very favorable. This printer is fast, very fast. Many printers claim faster speeds (at lower qualities) but this printer actually produces high quality, (sellable) prints in speeds that exceed 100 square feet per hour. In fact, we were printing at these speed/quality settings at the Decor show in front of fine art customers accustom to seeing giclee prints and they were in agreement that the Canon ipf9000 produces extremely high quality giclee prints at these speeds.

We have been waiting for a 60 inch, highly productive printer that is as easy to use and maintenance free as the Epson printers that we've been so spoiled by for the last several years. Until now, our only solution for high speed 60 inch printers has been printers costing 40k plus which require daily maintenance. The Canon iPF9000 printer fills a huge need in this wide format inkjet market with its low-cost, quality, speed, and ease of use.

At DTG, we have been profiling the Canon 9000 inkjet printer with a variety of substrates including giclee canvas, fine-art papers, photo papers, and banner materials. Look for profiles soon on dtgweb.com for Hahnemuhle, Canon, Moab, Fredrix, BullDog, Kodak, Ilford, and other medias.

DTG will start shipping the Canon ipf 9000 printer to customers in the 3rd week of September. Please call 1-800-681-0024 if you have any questions.

DTG Ships Epson 7800 & 9800 Printers

DTG has begun shipping the new Epson Stylus Pro 7800 and Epson Stylus Pro 9800 printers to customers on it's wating lists. We have also received our demonstration units so if you would like to test drive an Epson 9800 or Epson 7800 please give us a call at 800-681-0024.

Our first impressions are very favorable as these new Epson Pro printers are definately living up to the hype. One of the most welcome new features is the auto head alignment that Epson introduced in the Stylus Pro 4000 and Stylus Pro 4800 printers. Users no longer have to take the time to analyze and enter alignment information into the printer...it's all handled automatically!

The black and white prints out of the Epson 7800 and 9800 with the Ultrachrome K3 inkset are incredible. They are completely neutral, from shadows to highlights. Also, the bronzing and metamerism issues from past Epson printers are virtually eliminated. There is very slight gloss differential in high contrast areas however you must look hard to pick it up.

DTG is currently building ICC profiles for the Epson 7800 and 9800 printers for a variety of papers including Hahnemuhle fine art papers, Moab papers, Ilford Glossy and Pearl papers, Kodak Glossy and Lustre papers, Fredrix inkjet canvas, Epson Luster and Photo papers, and many more. DTG customers can download ICC profiles for their printers at www.dtgweb.com.

The Pulse ColorElite color management and profiling system comes in 8 versions: With or without UV filter, with or without a monitor calibrator, and with and without CMYK profiling capability. X-Rite Pulse Color Elite - 5 Stars!

Grandville, MI—June 13, 2005—X-Rite (NASDAQ: XRIT) today announced that its new Pulse ColorElite System has won Photoshop User Magazine’s Five Star Award. The product review will be featured on page 84 of the upcoming July/August issue of the publication, which hits stands today. This is one of several favorable reviews Pulse has received since it began shipping in late 2004.

Steve Baczewski, Professional Photographer and Editor for Photoshop User Magazine described the Pulse system as “a well-thought-out, highly accurate, software/hardware combination.” Baczewski continues: “Above all, the system is easy to use and X-Rite should be commended for taking a daunting subject like color management, anticipating all the problems, and creating a set of tools yielding sophisticated results.” This is only the third time Baczewski has given the Five Star Award and the first for a color management solution.

“X-Rite is thrilled and honored to receive the Five Star Award from an industry leading publication like PhotoShop User Magazine,” said Scott Bowman, Director of X-Rite’s Graphic Arts Business. “The reception to Pulse has been outstanding since we first previewed the product at Drupa last year. Photography and design professionals worldwide have truly embraced Pulse as the new standard for performance and ease-of-use.”

What other industry experts say about Pulse:

“This is a new, comprehensive color management tool from one of the major players in the field (some would hold the major player in the field!). X-Rite have been slow to join the “lower end” party but seem to have benefited from their late start with a product which has none of the wrinkles exhibited by its competitors.”

-Mike McNamee, Editor Image Maker Magazine (UK)

“I can attest to the careful physical design, nice software interface and attention to detail that have gone into X-Rite's product range. These aspects of X-Rite's design ensure a usability that is certainly far superior to GMB (GretagMacbeth)'s.”

-Dr. Edmund Ronald, Ph. D., Publish Magazine

“The end of color management issues, arguments, and long forum threads is in sight with products like Pulse leading the way. This is the CM product we've all been waiting for. Thanks X-Rite!”

-Will Crockett, Shootsmarter.com

“GretagMacbeth has dominated the mid-range profiling market for almost five years with Eye-One so it’s a tough act to follow. X-Rite has sensibly taken the best aspects of Eye-One, improved on any weak points and thrown in a better software bundle.”

-PrintWeek (UK) (Product of the Week)

GretagMacbeth Display One Monitor Calibrators

I needed a color calibration solution for my home system (IBM tower, 2.8 GHz with 1.5ram & 17 IBM CRT monitor) which I use for my own artwork and for design. I’m using the new Photoshop CS2 and I wanted to have accurate color for when I take my images to print. Being that I am on a tight budget but still demanding accurate color, I found the GretagMacbeth Eye-One Display Monitor Calibrator to be the perfect solution. (the Eye-One Display One is no longer available, the GretagMacbeth Eye-One Display 2 Monitor Calibrator $199.00 is the newest product/model) . I was a little skeptical, but WOW was I proven wrong. I first installed the Gretag software, restarted, and plugged the Eye-One in (I found that using the front USB ports does not provide enough power, I had to use the back ports). The Eye-One was immediately recognized, I launched the software, and a nice large screen appeared with two available options… did I want to calibrate my monitor or projector (optional via the gretag beamer product)? I chose monitor and proceeded to put the calibrator on the screen and followed the step by step instructions (very easy to follow). The software ran through a series of tests, completed, and BAM! my monitor was calibrated. The next step was to soft proof some of my images in Photoshop (I use the ADOBE 1998 RGB in my color settings). They looked awesome and now for the final test, printing them on the EPSON 4000. For the first time my images were accurate to color and I am very pleased with my $79.00 investment! The gretag eye one display will certainly pay for itself many times over now that my costs due to reprints will be virtually eliminated.

MOAB Paper

Artist and photographers looking for a paper that has a wide gamut, great texture and is modestly priced, MOAB papers are the way to go. Being a fine artist, I've found that paper choice is critical to the outcome of the printed piece. Having used other brands and getting satisfactory results I was blown away at the results of the MOAB paper. I am personally partial to the MOAB Entrada 300gsm Bright White. My Art is very colorful (reds and yellows) and color can be hard to hit. I was astonished with the results. The colors are accurate (used custom ICC profile, printed on the EPSON 4800) and the print looks like it was painted on the paper. If you are looking for a paper to meet your needs and color demands and budget requirements, you will not be let down using the MOAB. If you have questions about the MOAB paper please feel free to contact me - .

Epson Announces 4800, 7800, & 9600 Printers

Epson announced new inkjet printers, the Stylus Pro 4800, Stylus Pro 7800, and Stylus Pro 9800, in the Pro Graphics line of inkjet printers on May 10, 2005. These latest printers bring faster print times, higher quality, and better black and white printing for the photographic, fine art (giclee), and proofing customer.

The Epson 4800, 7800, and 9800 printers all feature Epson's latest 1 inch print head which yields super high quality at very fast speeds. They will print at up to 2880x1440 using variable droplet technolgy with as little as a 3.5 picoliter droplet. Epson has introduced a new inkset, Ultrachrome K3, for the 4800, 7800, & 9800 printers. Ultrachrome K3 uses 8 separate inks including the familiar Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Light Black, and adds a new Light Light Black. This new inkset is said to produce a wider gamut, higher dMax, and more neutral grayscale when compared with existing Epson ultrachrome inks.

The Epson Stylus Pro 4800 can print 17" wide and will be replacing the Epson Stylus Pro 4000. The 4800 is expected to begin shipping by the end of May or early June, 2005. Epson says the 4800 will be approximately 20 percent faster than the 4000. They will also be offering a 4800 Pro model featuring a postscript RIP and ethernet card bundle. Because of the new "3rd" black ink, on the fly switching between photo and matte black will not be possible. Users will have to flush the ink and replace the current black with the different black.

The Epson Stylus Pro 7800 and Epson Stylus Pro 9800 will be replacing the 7600 and 9600 printers respectively. The 7800 can print up to 24" wide and the 9800 can print up to 44" wide. The 7800 and 9800 will be nearly twice as fast as the 7600 and 9600. The Epson Stylus Pro 7800 and 9800 printers are not expected to ship until September, 2005.

Street prices are as following:
Epson Stylus Pro 4800: $1995
Epson Stylus Pro 4800 Pro Edition: $2,495
Epson Stylus Pro 7800: $2,995
Epson Stylus Pro 9800: $4,995

Digital Technology Group, Inc. (dtgweb.com) is taking orders for these printers immediately. DTG has a priority waiting list for each printer which requires a $100 deposit. DTG will be shipping to customers on the priority list first, in the order in which they receive deposits. DTG also has a standard waiting list which is free to get on. After DTG ships all of our orders to customers on the priority list, shipments to the standard waiting list will begin.

Look for a review of the Epson Stylus Pro 4800 printer in Late May or early June on www.dtgweb.com/reviews. DTG will be comparing the 4800 to the Epson 4000 with head to head testing.
