Before you install the Monaco Optix XR software you need to make sure that you uninstall or disable any 3rd party monitor calibration software and reboot your computer. Failure to do this could cause the calibration and profile to be inaccurate.
On a Macintosh you should search your applications folder for any monitor calibration software that you already installed or any software that resembles a monitor calibration program. If you find something, within that folder there may or may not be an uninstall program. If there is, launch that and follow the instructions to uninstall the software. If you do not see an uninstall icon then you just need to drag the folder for the application into the trash and empty it. After that I would do a search/find for files with that application name to find additional preference files or library files and trash those as well. Reboot your Macintosh and it’s now safe to install and use the Monaco Optix XR software.
On a PC with Adobe Photoshop installed you will have Adobe Gamma running which will cause problems with the monitor calibration. To disable Adobe Gamma do the following per your operating system. For Windows 2000 or earlier go to c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\startup folder and delete the Adobe Gamma shortcut from that folder. For Windows XP, go to your start menu and click run. Type msconfig and hit enter. Click on the startup tab in that window and search for the item “Adobe Gamma Loader” in the list. Click the check box to uncheck the box, click OK, and reboot your computer. This will disable Adobe Gamma permantently.
Also for the PC, look in your programs folder to see if anything resembles monitor calibration software or if you recognize any monitor calibration software you may have installed in the past. If you see any additional monitor calibration software make sure you use add/remove programs in the control panel to remove that software. Reboot your computer and it’s now safe to install and use the Monaco Optix XR software.
